INTER-GENERATIONAL LEARNING: FROM DIAGNOSTIC TO IMPACT EVALUATION – CROSS AGES

CROSS AGES project aims at giving a contribution in favour of older people's active participation in our society, through the definition of an integrated learning model based on the support and enhancement of intergenerational exchange, as a lever for promoting successful ageing (active ageing) and social inclusion of older people in the local communities. Moving from this perspective of cultural, educational and social innovation, the project action has the following three separate but interdependent macro-aims targeted towards the final beneficiaries of the project in the first place, i.e. older workers exiting from their working life or older people who have already retired.

Project objectives:
  • preparing and accompanying the exit from the labour market by preventing the risks of social exclusion
  • supporting active ageing, promoting and defending social inclusion processes
  • favouring intergenerational exchange in which aged people could bring their long-term life experience and younger people could contribute with their updated knowledge

    The main project activities will be:
  • the identification and selection of good practices (methodologies and evaluation tools) in the field of LLL for older people, elaborated in previous EU projects;
  • the analysis and research activities on contents pertaining to the experience of older people at professional level and in social life;
  • the adaptation and integration of good practices (adapting and extending methodologies from the world of labour, where these practices have been implemented, to the local communities);
  • the experimentation of inter-generational learning modules;
  • the planning of an integrated LLL education and training model based on the intergenerational approach, characterised by transferability at European level.

    Beneficiaries
    Final beneficiaries are aged people, and in particular:
    _ Aged workers exiting from their working life
    _ Aged people who have already retired

    Direct beneficiaries
    _ Teachers, trainers and practitioners belonging to the adult education/training systems
    _ Public and private organisations and institutions involved in adult education/training systems
    _ Social partners (trade-unions and employer associations)
    _ Public administrations responsible for regional policies and local strategies
    _ Associations and or no-profit organisations, expression of civil Society
